Tia's Tips: Combining Copics and Colored pencils on kraft paper is a winning team! Both mediums pop on kraft and when combined together create beautiful layers of dimension.
This little cutie is called 'Candy Cane Gnome" from Conie Fong. Gnomes are extremely popular and there are some really great designs in the store. I decided not to use traditional Christmas 'reds & greens' and instead opted for more of the cool colors of advent, including the beautiful sentiments in the design paper.
If you've never combined Copics and Colored pencils-now is the time!
The Project:
I began with my Copics on the clothes, skin and bow. I deepened and highlighted them with gray and white pencils. On the Candy cane I inked the red edges with marker and finished the whole thing with colored pencils.
At the end I decided to give a little "pop" of color to the circle by outlining it with the white pencil.
Design wise I opted for circles, the photos never do justice, but the white ribbon says Merry Christmas.
