The deadly wildfires that broke out in the city of Lahaina on the Island of Maui on August 8th, 2023 is one of the deadliest fires to occur in the U.S. in over a Century. As nearly 388 people are still considered missing from the fire, Maui needs our help!

Good Luck! Have FUN!
This week's challenge them came a perfect time! I had the 'Summer Attitude' printed and ready to ink when the tragedy on Maui occurred. I created this sentiment in Word and adhered with with tape. The meaning in Hawaiian translates to: Maui-take good care of yourself.
I started with an A6 sized card base (4.5x6.25in.) and adhered this very subtle design paper that reminded me of tree bark.
With my 'old school Cricket' and cartridges, I dug out the "Life is a Beach", and from white cardstock cutout a Hibiscus boarder.
I used COPICS to color and Wink of Stella to highlight and adhered to my card with foam tape.
I also created the waves from the same Cricket cartridge. Using the wave image & layer. I then inked them with distress ink in Chipped Sapphire & Tumbled Glass.
I fussy cut the focal image and adhered her with foam tape -so lots of great layers to this card.
You can't see in the photos, but I also added a little bit of glossy accents to the hibiscus flower in her hair. I thought about adding it to the surf board, but didn't want to get to carried away or make the board too much of a focus.
I love that you clicked in and I hope you are inspired by my card and will join the Paper Shelter Blog Challenge!
I also hope you will find out where & how you can donate to the Maui Community.

What a beautiful gesture Tia! I love that you used your old Cricut and cartridges for this. I still have mine too, with a cupboard full of cartridges. I love your Hibiscus border!
