Tia's Tips: As Card creators, we sometimes neglect the inside of our cards tending to focus on the front of the card exclusively. Here's your chance to focus on the inside!

My Card Details:

Card Outside Card Inside

I have always been a fan of picnic-ing! Growing up my mother crafted THE BEST picnic fare too! No, it wasn't sandwiches or friend chicken. My mother would create the most incredible spread of h'our devours. And I think there was something about being outside, sitting on a blanket that made me fearless to try anything!

My mother would pack multiple tubs filled with all sorts of different spreads: crab salad, liverwurst and olive tapenade. Cheese spreads made from cream cheese to port wine. There was spinach dip, pickle relish, beet and cucumber salads! And she always had an amazing variety of crackers and/or breads for dipping or spreading our bounty on. I learned to try them all and MORE in my childhood, all while on a picnic!

When I saw this digi-Enjoy the Summer, this cutie little Elf-free on Summer vacation with his multiple picnic baskets, I knew I had to create a card worthy of my summer memories.

I started with the paper kit " I Love Summer" from Echo Park. I loved the bright colorful background paper screaming "Summertime", "Hello Summer" and "Summer Fun".

I used the color palette from the paper to ink up my digital image. Picking your paper first and matching your inks to it helps to keep the card looking cohesive and and not chaotic.

With such a busy background I needed to keep my image on the paper I printed him on with a boarder for him to stand out, OR I could have him Stand Out!

That is when I decided to create an "inside card". Lining the inside of my card, I used a set of "Pop Up Stage Dies" from Stampendous to help my Elf stand up in the card and away from the busy background paper. I even used a tab so the butterfly could remain floating nearby.

After the inside of my card was complete, I focused on the outside.

I went back to my paper kit and selected a sentiment image from the papers for a quick and easy, matching card front!

I love how the card front and inside come together for a very happy and vibrant card-that I plan to send to my mom!

Picnic anyone?
